Here we are in Dr. Moussa Maman’s medical practice. The room is basic, the space is cramped, furniture sparse with but a few chairs and a bed to stretch out. As for the characters, there's Dr. Maman, his assistant, and a few patients coming and going – and of course the healer. The doctor, an ally of the healer and one in his own right, jumps from Western medicine to magical ancestral antidotes without batting an eyelash. He diagnoses a malignant fever with the same science that he uses for a love sickness stuck in the throat. Part physician, part psychoanalyst, he makes the fever come down.
