Cholesterol, the big bluff

by Anne Georget

Summary

The theory that makes cholesterol mainly responsible for cardiovascular diseases has been contested since the 60s but imposed itself with the huge support of the agri-food industry and the pharmaceutical laboratories producing statins, these anti-cholesterol drugs prescribed by the millions around the globe.

This perfect scapegoat has been shaped by numerous fierce scientific battles and impressive industrial strategies.

The film unveils the heroes and the villains, the lights and the shadows around that public health matter. Cholesterol, a devil of a saga!
